FOR ANNOTATORS AND AI TRAINERS
Get qualified. Then get interviewed.
Data Gradient trains you on the workflows labs hire for, scores you on real tasks, and hands you a record they can verify.
Free training. Real practice. YOUR OWN credential.
[01] Where our annotators work
Our people have trained models you’ve used.
Nearly all frontier data work sits under NDA, so annotators can’t name the lab or their work, and it certainly can't be verified. At Data Gradient, your work, your scores and your quality are known.

[02] The workflow
From no experience to production work.
Six stages. We score you for your quality, and we make sure you're seen by the right hiring managers.
Choose a track
Pick the kind of AI data work you want to be qualified for. Most people start with preference ranking because it has no prerequisites and the widest demand, but nothing stops you from running several tracks at once.
Takes about 5 minutes- No applicationThere is no screening step for open tracks. You choose, and you start.
- See the gate before you beginEach track shows its threshold, estimated hours, and what the graded tasks look like.
- Switch freelyProgress is saved per track. Starting a second one doesn't reset the first.
[03] The credential
A record built from work, not claims.
At Data Gradient credential isn’t a certificate of attendance. It’s a live record of graded output. It says what you can do, how well you can do it, and how recently you did it.
L1 · TRAINED
Completed the coursework
Signals: you understand the workflow
You’ve finished the lessons and knowledge checks for a task type. This is a starting point, not a qualification. It doesn’t open any work on its own.
L2 · VERIFIED
Cleared the practice gate
Signals: your practice output meets the rubric
Your scored practice crossed the threshold on a client’s rubric across a minimum number of tasks. Projects using that task type become visible to you.
L3 · REVIEWER
Review production work
Signals: your judgment meets the standard
You review annotator work, resolve disagreements, and help calibrate rubrics across production batches.
L4 · AUTHOR
Teach others
Signals: you create the course
You create Data Gradient courses from frontier research and real project workflows, teaching others the standards behind the work.
[04] Skill tracks
Start where you are. Move toward scarcer work.
Basic labeling is crowded and priced accordingly. The tracks below are where demand outstrips supply, mostly because almost nobody trains people on them properly. Each one is open to you regardless of background. The gate is the only entry requirement.
Preference ranking & RLHF
High demand
Compare model responses against a rubric, justify the ranking, and handle multi-turn conversations where quality is contested rather than obvious.
~14 hrs to gate
No prerequisites
Any language
SFT response writing
High demand
Write the reference answer a model should have given. Strong writing matters more than technical background. This is the track most people underestimate.
~20 hrs to gate
Writing sample
Domain variants
Multimodal annotation
Steady demand
Image, video, and audio labeling with structured schemas: bounding, segmentation, action and affordance tagging, and temporal consistency.
~16 hrs to gate
No prerequisites
Tool-based
Adversarial red-teaming
High demand
Probe models for failures, document reproducible attacks, and rate severity. Requires a safety review before the track opens.
~24 hrs to gate
Screening required
Safety-cleared
Code trajectory review
High demand
Grade agent runs, diffs, and repair traces. Programming experience required; the track teaches the grading standard, not the language.
~18 hrs to gate
Coding required
Python / JS / Go
Expert domain review
Selective
Medicine, law, finance, and science. Credential verification required, and the pay reflects the scarcity of qualified reviewers.
~12 hrs to gate
License verified

[05] Annotators
What changed for people who did the drills.
Data Gradient’s training made the data annotation process clear and practical. The real examples and guided exercises helped me sharpen my attention to detail and understand how annotation works in real AI workflows. The skills I gained directly helped me complete an assignment and secure a role as an Advanced Data Annotator at a stealth AI company.

Early-stage AI Startup
DATA GRADIENT LEARNER
A single workshop with Data Gradient completely changed how I approach unstructured data. I learned how to produce clean, semantically structured outputs that AI models can actually use. Those skills directly helped me land a role at an AI automation startup.

DATA GRADIENT LEARNER
Data Gradient’s training transformed my understanding of annotation. What once seemed simple became a structured discipline with clear standards, edge-case reasoning, and QA practices. Shortly after completing the training, I received an interview, and the skills I learned were exactly what interviewers asked about.

DATA GRADIENT LEARNER
The training was thorough, practical, and easy to follow. Working through real examples and annotating together as a group helped me quickly improve my approach. The hands-on experience prepared me well for real assignments, and I’d recommend this training to anyone looking to build strong, practical data skills.

DATA GRADIENT LEARNER
Every platform I’d used before just told me my score dropped. This one told me which part of the rubric I was missing and gave me twenty tasks on exactly that.

Being able to show a client an actual acceptance rate instead of saying “trust me, I’ve done this” is the whole difference. I stopped competing on price.

The things annotators ask first.
Does it cost anything?
-
No. Training, practice, and qualification are free, and they stay free. Clients pay for the workspace, the sandboxes built on their guidelines, and access to the qualified pool. You are not the customer, and we don't sell your data.
